Are you passionate about working with kids? Do you have a background in the outdoor recreation, science or education? Do you find yourself eager to help those in your community learn and grow? The Chief Seattle Council Scoutreach program is based in the heart of the Rainier Valley of Seattle and is looking for people who are interested in shaping kids into the leaders of tomorrow.

The Scoutreach program looks to put talented individuals into classrooms and community centers throughout the greater Seattle area. As a Program Leader you will get to work with a variety of students from various backgrounds, creating lessons plans that highlight your interests and the needs of the community.

Our ideal candidate is someone who feels confident in a classroom filled with children. Someone who is excited to teach new concepts and can take a genuine interest in the community in which they serve. Building confidence in the kids that they work with and creating long lasting relationships in the community.

What You Will Learn:
How to create a multitude of lesson plans catered to individual sites.
Relationship building with the community by maintaining a positive and safe environment for kids to grow and learn.
How to track attendance and course progression throughout the school year.
How to create strong bonds with students and their families.
Creative lessons that will teach complex ideas and engage students.
How to create a structured lesson that is both fun and open to students.
Plenty of additional opportunities in related projects.

What We Require:
At least 18 years old.
Access to reliable transportation.
Strong communication skills.
Organized, with an ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments.
Creative and Flexible.
Familiarity with the different neighborhoods of Seattle and the residents that live in those neighborhoods.
Interested in working in the community and is passionate about kids.
Interest in nonprofit management and community development.
We value all of our Program Leaders and go the extra mile to make sure you receive a learning experience that fits your career goals. You will become extremely knowledgeable in communication, community organizing, and understanding how to lesson plan for children with varying abilities. You will also learn how to work in a school environment and have ample opportunity to network with different community organization leaders and other professionals in the non-profit field.

Details:
The position is open now. You can expect to work anywhere from 20 to 25 hours a week and will be paid $12/hour.
