Leading social enterprise support organization seeks a Communications and Development Director. The Director will develop and manage execution of the strategy for all communications to consistently articulate the SEG mission and to support development activities.

Our rapidly growing and highly committed team offers a comprehensive menu of services including:

Business development services including 101 workshops, a robust Accelerator program that employs a blended learning model, and later stage customized strategy support;
The SEG Hub, a co-working and community space;
The SEEED Summit, a national social enterprise conference in partnership with Brown University;
A loan fund and accompanying technical assistance.

About the position
The full-time, Providence-based Communication and Development Director will report to the CEO. The Director will spearhead communications efforts and support development efforts as Social Enterprise Greenhouse continues to grow. A new position in the organization, the Director will have the opportunity to set and guide the strategy for all communications, website, and public relations messages and collateral to consistently articulate the SEG mission and to build the development function. The successful candidate will work closely with the senior team within the organization on a variety of strategic initiatives and will be a key external face of Social Enterprise Greenhouse in the community.

About You
You’re detail-oriented and have a passion for social enterprise/entrepreneurs and doing your part to make the world a better place. You’re a leader, problem-solver, and consensus-builder who learns quickly, communicates persuasively, works collaboratively, and thinks strategically. You can develop communications strategies, track data and develop reports. Working in a fast-paced, growing, entrepreneurial community is very appealing to you. Specific qualifications include:

Univeristy Degree (BA required, MA a plus)
5-plus years related experience in communications and development
Demonstrated excellence in organizational, managerial, and communications skills, ideally in an “in-house” leadership role that manages a number and variety of constituents, and covering areas such as website content, newsletters, and donor communications. The ability to take knowledge and transform it into exciting and useful messages, and disseminate it to the right audiences through the best distribution channels is critical.
Experience developing and implementing communications strategies
Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills
A strong track record as an implementer who thrives on managing a variety of key initiatives concurrently
Relationship builder with the flexibility and finesse to “manage by influence”
High energy, maturity, and leadership with the ability to serve as a unifying force and to position communications discussions at both the strategic and tactical levels
Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, board members, volunteers, donors, program participants, and other supporters
Self-starter, able to work independently, and entrepreneurial; enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives
What you’ll do

Primary duties will include:
Communications
Develop, implement, and evaluate the annual communications plan across the network’s discreet audiences in collaboration with the SEG team and constituents
Work closely with closely with the Development/Communications committee to execute on the strategy.
Manage and mentor the SEG communications manager to implement communications strategy.
Lead the generation of online content that engages audience segments and leads to measurable action. Decide who, where, and when to disseminate
Put communications vehicles in place to create momentum and awareness as well as to test the effectiveness of communications activities
Manage the development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral including, but not limited to, newsletters, brochures, and SEG’s website
Coordinate webpage maintenance—ensure that new and consistent information (article links, stories, and events) is posted regularly
Track and measure the level of engagement within the network over time
Coordinate and organize annual meetings that engage the network’s discreet audiences
Manage all media contacts

Development
Work closely with the CEO to develop and execute SEG’s annual fundraising plan
Help secure financial support from individuals, foundations and corporations
Work closely with CEO to develop and maintain ongoing relationships with donors
Create and execute a strategy for a large sustained base of annual individual donors
Work with team implementing Salesforce to setup and maintain development tracking processes.
Oversee organization of special fundraising events
Develop and track proposals and reports for foundation/corporate fundraising
