Small Business Program Coordinator – Operation HOPE Inc – Harlem, NY

DEPARTMENT: Adult Empowerment Division

ACCOUNTABILITY: Reports directly to the National Business Program Manager

JOB SUMMARY: Deliver and propel the area’s Small Business Development Program. Identify, recruit, educate and counsel existing and potential Small Businesses and facilitate financial literacy workshops and trainings. Prepare potential borrowers to be loan ready. Assistance and counseling includes in person one-on-one, group education, over the phone counseling and counseling via online capabilities. Additionally, the Small Business Program Coordinator will need to be cross-trained to provide other financial literacy workshops as needed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Ability to articulate the mission, objectives, and programs of the organization
Promote, coordinate and conduct small business development educational workshops, entrepreneurial training classes, and any applicable financial literacy workshops
Provide technical assistance to small business owners and entrepreneurs
Develop and manage technical assistance partners
Conduct follow up appointments and track progress of clients to successfully assist individuals with reaching outcomes and completing the program
Input, track, and update clients in Client Management System
Meet program and production goals
Complete production and activity reports
Maintain program client files
Participate in community outreach/promotion efforts and develop strategic alliances that will support the success of the program
Provide loan guidance and assistance to potential loan borrowers
Adhere to and administer the EDA grant and other program grants (if applicable)
Maintain technical assistance, strategic alliances, and a positive SBA relationship

SKILLS

Must have the ability to perform a variety of tasks that include group presentations, counseling and loan guidance and assistance. Must be able to pay attention to detail and have strong communication skills both written and verbal. Must be self-motivated, professional with integrity and take initiative. Must have MS Office computer skills and ability to use online counseling software.

Educational Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree required
Minimum one year experience in business counseling, lending, and/or education
Experience in business management
Minimum 2 years of outside sales experience preferred
Financial planning and credit counseling experience preferred

Have the ability to interact with all levels within a corporate environment. Maintain a positive and professional attitude in all settings.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Normal office environments, ability to walk, stand, sit, and talk on the phone for long periods of time in a professional manner. Have the ability to work outside the office in the field and to coordinate and facilitate workshops/trainings/events throughout the region.
