Community Housing Partnership is an outcome focused nonprofit that fulfills its mission by developing and managing high quality permanent housing and providing services to homeless individuals, seniors and families to help them rebuild their lives and break the cycle of homelessness. Community Housing Partnership is financially stable with an annual operating budget of approximately $25 million. The organization has an outstanding staff of over 280 people, over half of whom were once homeless.
During the past four years, Community Housing Partnership reorganized its operations to better manage its growth and to refocus its services on long term impacts and outcomes. CHP is currently undertaking a repositioning of its programs and services to align with a newly developed “theory of change” model that will be implemented over the next four to six years, with the support of a committed foundation. Position Overview:
The Youth Services Coordinator will create and oversee programming and provide support services for youth (ages 5-18) residing in Community Housing Partnership’s family supportive housing. The Youth Services Coordinator, in collaboration with the Support Services staff at each site, will develop, document, coordinate, and implement an engaging, creative, recreational, educational and social activities program for youth and families with the goal of breaking multi-generational cycles of poverty and supporting families achieve self-sufficiency. The ideal candidate has a demonstrated track record of engaging youth and families in voluntary services, works well independently and as part of a team, and has strong organizational skills. This position has evening hours to better include school age children and working parents.
Responsibilities:
Develop and oversee programming and activities for youth and families.
Identify, develop linkages with, and coordinate access to appropriate education (including private school and scholarship resources), after-school enrichment programs, and summer resources for children and youth ages 5-18.
Collaborate with parents in their development of educational advocacy skills, and when requested, attend parent/teacher meetings, individual education plans, and other school-based conferences.
Provide active linkage and coordination with the San Francisco Unified School District, Child Protective Services, and other non-profit agencies to ensure that these systems are properly supporting children, youth and their families.
Provide services to tenants using trauma informed and harm reduction interventions.
Coordinate youth-specific training for service and property management staff.
Partner with parents, teachers, specialists, and other CHP services staff to develop support networks for youth struggling with depression, post-traumatic stress, anger management and low self-esteem.
Conduct weekly groups with teens emphasizing health education, conscious decision making, leadership, and personal empowerment.
Create calendars, reference resources, activity plans that can easily be used by others.
Provide case management, crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and de-escalation services.
Participate in unit meetings, staff meetings,
Act as CHP’s liaison to the broader service community for children and youth to cultivate access to off-site services and activities for children and youth, and bring outside services on-site through agency collaborations.
Assist with special projects, reports, and activities as needed.

Qualifications:
Experience working with homeless children and youth.
Proven ability to navigate the San Francisco Unified School District and non-profit agencies.
Experience in education advocacy, service coordination, and collaboration preferred.
Strong administrative and computer skills (MS Word, Excel).
Demonstrated ability to use harm reduction interventions to work with homeless individuals, especially those struggling with substance abuse and mental health issues.
Demonstrated experience in curriculum/program development and group facilitation.
Strong written and verbal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population of staff and tenants.
Familiarity with community resources, service programs and opportunities focusing on homelessness and poverty issues.
Experience providing case management, crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and supportive counseling to youth and families.
Required Education, Credentials & Licensure:
Bachelor’s degree in education, child development, social work, or related field, or a teaching credential or equivalent experience.
A minimum of three years of experience working with children and youth in a school-based, after-school, education, recreation, or creative arts setting.
Ability to speak Spanish or another language spoken by CHP tenants a plus.

Work Hours: Monday – Friday, occasional evening/weekend hours may be required
Union: This position is under the collective bargaining agreement with SEIU 1021
