ABOUT ACMG
The American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics is an organization composed of biochemical, clinical, cytogenetic, medical and molecular geneticists, genetic counselors and other health care professionals committed to the practice of medical genetics. The ACMG was incorporated in 1991 to give national representation to providers of genetic services and their patients with genetic disorders and to speak for the emerging specialty of medical genetics in organizations and agencies concerned with medical service, certification, and regulatory issues. The ACMG provides education, resources, and a voice for the medical genetics profession and its’ mission is to improve health through genetics.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The successful candidate will work with the Executive Director in the management of a contract funded by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), National Institutes of Health (NIH). This position will be responsible for the management, coordination, and oversight of federally funded infrastructure and resources that support research and improvement of newborn screening in the United States. It includes working with researchers, newborn screening programs in State Public Health Departments, and with federal partners. This groundbreaking project bridges private healthcare systems, public healthcare systems and Public Health programs with the goal of facilitating research to improve the health outcomes of newborns with genetic or congenital disorders.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in science, public health, or related field with relevant experience is required
Demonstrated ability to manage projects and function independently and with minimal supervision
ESSENTIAL SKILL SETS
Excellent oral and written communication skills (including proofreading abilities)
Exceptional organizational skills, a proactive attitude and excellent interpersonal skills
Needs to demonstrate consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail
Willingness to travel for 2-5 day trips, 3-4 times per calendar year or as needed
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to work in both a team environment and function independently
ACMG/ACMGF DUTIES (100%)
Prepares and communicates project status and progress reports to internal and external team members.
Facilitates team and subcontractor meetings.
Keeps internal and external teams well informed of changes within the project scope/work.
Works collaboratively with project stakeholders to develop a comprehensive project plan based on approved funding. Project plans will include: Scope, Schedule, Cost, Quality, Organization and Communications, Staffing, Risk and Issue Management, Test, Configuration, and Change Management.
Creates and executes project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
Identifies cross-functional resources as needed and assigns individual responsibilities.
Facilitates and ensures deliverables are met as they pertain to project scope, goals, and deliverables.
Manages day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope.
Manages cross functional teams to ensure timely execution of implementation.
Reviews deliverables prepared by external teams before passing them along to internal team/supervisor.
Prepares for reviews and quality assurance procedures of relative team members.
Minimizes company exposure and risk on project.
Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
Assists with managing the project budget.
Assists in project resource allocation
Works with NICHD to ensure contract deliverables are met
Perform Meeting Management. Prepare meeting agendas and meeting minutes, distribute meeting documentation, and maintain and monitor action item listings as necessary. Facilitate and lead meetings and steering committee meetings by being well-prepared and adhering to topics.
Oversees the NBSTRN administrative tasks.
BENEFITS AND SALARY
The hourly salary for this non-exempt, full-time position shall be commensurate with the candidate’s skill and experience. ACMG offers an excellent benefits package.
