Jewish Family Service is currently seeking a qualified and self-motivated Volunteer Services Program Associate. This part-time .8 FTE position (30 hours/week) is responsible for coordinating volunteer events and activities in collaboration with staff in the Volunteer Services Department. The position will also develop outreach volunteer events in the community and represent the agency at community events, with partner organizations and in school classrooms. The position is located in the Seattle office. Must be available to work on Sundays.
Essential Responsibilities:
Work in collaboration with Volunteer Services Department staff to design volunteer events.
Establish strong relationships with internal departments and attend planning meetings to design and coordinate volunteer events.
Create and implement innovative educational components of volunteer/service events and develop curriculum in collaboration with JFS goals and priorities.
Build strong contacts with community representatives to design volunteer projects and staff off-site events; record volunteer hours and contact information.
Act as Volunteer Department representative to JFS staff and program directors when appropriate and represent JFS to the community.
Ensure volunteer department supplies and materials are ordered and available.
Work with student interns and office volunteers to prepare for events.
Create and maintain spreadsheets and other record keeping in support of volunteer projects
throughout the year.
Qualifications:
High degree of attention to detail and organization skills essential for event coordination.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including public speaking.
Proficiency with MS Office, databases and internet tools such as Constant Contact, Survey Monkey, Facebook and Canvas preferred.
Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and adapt to work flow priority changes.
Bachelor of Arts degree.
Knowledgeable about Jewish practice and familiarity with organized Jewish community.
Experience with not-for-profit agencies preferred.
Washington state driving license and vehicle insurance required.
