Position Description

Reporting to the Sr. VP; Ext. Affairs & Community Engagement, the VP: Synagogue Outreach & Partnerships is responsible for partnering with all of Federation’s departments and Strategic Initiatives and its Board of Rabbis to provide support services to synagogues, and to enhance Federation’s relationships and partnerships with synagogues and synagogue clergy, professional and lay leadership.
Principal Duties

Develop dynamic relationships with synagogue clergy, professional and lay leadership, provide resources and services to synagogues and develop strategies to increase the participation of synagogues and synagogue leadership in the Federation’s programmatic work.
Develop a Federation lay leadership committee to partner in this work.
Serve as liaison to other Federation departments in their work on community synagogue projects relating to the provision of social services, Jewish engagement, volunteerism and Israel advocacy.
Working with lay committee, strategic initiatives and Board of Rabbis, develop integrated plan for Federation synagogue partnerships.
Supervise assigned Board of Rabbis or other department staff.
Develop database of synagogue programming and leadership for use by all facets of the Federation.
Participate in synagogue and relevant movement roundtables relating to synagogue issues.
Deliver regular programming to benefit synagogues, including annual Federation/Synagogue summit designed to add value to synagogue leadership participants.
Develop resources for synagogue support programming ideas drawn from work with colleagues at other Federations and with organizations focused on enhancing synagogues.
Provide leadership and support to related Federation initiatives designed to strengthen Jewish communal life in Los Angeles.
Participate in the annual campaign, including donor solicitation and cultivation.
Participate in collaborative Federation and community planning process with other program and campaign colleagues.

Additional Duties

Be available to supervisor for additional assignments, as required, including working with Analytics to develop prospects and assisting with the Campaign.
Education, Skill and Experience Requirements

Advanced Degree in Social Science/Humanities/Business Admin. or related field.
Minimum 7 yrs. management experience in community organizing, community relations, fundraising and/or planning and program development functions for a Jewish communal agency.
Expertise in strategic planning, grant funding, supervision, policy analysis, leadership cultivation, evaluation, and research methods.
Deep knowledge of Judaism and the Jewish community.
Excellent oral and written communications; interpersonal and organizational skills.
Appropriate education and related experience strongly desired.
