We are seeking a Youth Organizer for our Denver-based “End the School to Jail Track in Denver Public Schools” campaign. The campaign’s vision is to end the racist push-out/drop-out and criminalization of youth of color in the Denver’s public schools, and to defend and expand the rights of all students to high-quality education (Freedom to Learn, College Prep For All, Immigrant Students Rights). We are looking for an experiencedorganizer who is willing to leap into the work immediately. This Youth Organizer will report to the Director of Youth Organizing.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Seasoned organizer. Minimum 2-3 years organizing experience in immigrant, low-income and communities of color.
Passion for working with youth. Experience working with youth in a group setting.
Dedication and commitment to racial justice and social justice, transformative organizing and movement building for
systemic change that comes from the grassroots and is led by the most oppressed communities.
Have unity with our PJU Points of Unity and be able to do political education based on these points of unity with members and leaders.
Bilingual/Bi-literate in Spanish/English.
Bachelor’s degree, accompanied by commensurate work experience.
Current valid driver’s license (vehicle insurance required).
Must be available to travel and be able to work weekends and evening meetings when required.
Capable of planning and executing work independently, while remaining accountable and responsive to team communication/feedback and focused supervision.
