Our Video Analytics Research Fellowship is a 3-month research position with a focus on the use of video for action in conservation. In collaboration with CMG staff, the Fellow will analyze and report on previous CMG video campaign metrics, develop best practice guidelines for the future use of video in conservation efforts, and conduct original research within the parameters of CMG’s mission. No previous experience with conservation is required, but a high level of expertise and unique skills in perception regarding online video, social media and online analytics are key.
The Research Fellow’s duties are directly aligned with the CMG mission to build capacity for the use of video to make significant change in conservation by supporting filmmakers, social media managers, campaign strategists and conservation activists who work on current issues in oceans and energy. The Program Coordinator reports to the CMG Director & COO.
Responsibilities
Working closely with CMG staff, the fellow will:
Assist with the development of best practices for conservation organizations and individuals using video in social media platforms for action
Organize and analyze past data from CMG video campaigns to assess lessons learned
Conduct original research within the parameters of CMG’s mission and ongoing programs & campaigns, and in collaboration with CMG staff
Write short articles on topics related to video analytics and conservation action
Work with our communications coordinator to find shareable best practice articles related to video analytics
Potentially attend and present at the CMG workshops, which may require travel to New Hampshire and on-site work July 4-19, 2015
Undertake other tasks as directed by the Director & COO
Required Skills
In depth knowledge & experience in using social media and web analytics
Ability to define important and relevant metrics to specific contexts
Experience with analysis of data from online video players and managers
Experience applying data & contextual info to best practices & recommendations
Engagement in current trends in video and social media
Attention to detail regarding data and metrics
Preferred Qualifications
A cheerful, collaborative, professional, communicative personality
Engagement in current trends in using video for action in social arenas
Engagement in current trends in conservation & sustainability a plus, but not required
Good problem solving skills, resourcefulness and ability to take initiative when needed
Ability to work independently to ensure that tasks are completed in a timely manner
Proven track-record and references when it comes to working remotely
Hours & Compensation
Full time (35-40 hours/week). $10,000 stipend for 13-week term. Potential for extension beyond initial timeframe to regular hourly or salaried position.
Possible travel to New Hampshire July 5-18, 2015 would require more than 40/hours per week during that time period.
No other benefits. Flexible hours and location. Position currently requires working from home with regular daily contact. Easy driving distance to Camden, Maine for occasional meetings preferred, but not required.
