Reports to: Development Director Location: Home office in Seattle / Camp office in Carnation

Organization Description:
Camp Korey is an independent 501-c3 Association, founded in 2005 by Tim Rose to honor his son Korey, a vivacious teen who lost his battle with bone cancer at eighteen. Camp Korey empowers children living with serious medical conditions and their families through free year-round programs. Camp Korey offers an array of programs including Residential Summer Camp, Family Weekends, and Camp to You outreach. Camp Korey, situated on the historic 818-acre Carnation Farm, is no run-of-the-mill summer camp. Century-old barns and farm have been renovated with a high quality medical facility, swimming pool, sports courts, climbing wall, costume room, zip-line, camper lodges and teepee village, exceeding every kid’s wildest dreams! Camp Korey is a member of the SeriousFun Children’s Network founded by Paul Newman.

Camp Korey Situational Analysis:
With a strong Board of Directors and Executive Team, Camp Korey is entering its second decade of providing life-changing therapeutic recreation to children with serious and life-altering medical conditions. This is an exciting time for Camp Korey as the organization enters a growth phase with plans of a capital campaign to double its current capacity by building additional cabins to serve more campers. The Board and Executive Team are committed to supporting an aggressive Fund Development Plan to support this growth and have allocated staff and resources to realize their long-term goals. With a history of strong financial support from the community and individual donors, the staff and Board of Camp Korey are confident the organization is well positioned for growth.

Purpose & Role:
Camp Korey seeks an Annual Giving Officer who is passionate and understands the significant role the organization plays in the lives of families and children living with serious medical conditions. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated strategic development and implementation of a comprehensive annual giving program, proven fund development acumen, and the following skills and attributes to achieve ambitious growth goals and shape a sustainable tradition of annual support:

Demonstrated record of successful fundraising,
Proficient in donor engagement, cultivation and giving continuum methods
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Excels in a collaborative environment with an openness to new ideas and ability to adapt to changing situations with positive outcomes
Mission-oriented; focused on the mission of Camp Korey and its commitment to providing care and programming that emphasizes safety, love, respect and empowerment

Key Areas of Responsibility:

    Fund Development:
Leadership and strategic direction to Annual Giving Program Donors with $1,000 – $5,000 annual giving history and capacity for $10,000 or more
Manage an estimate of 300 donor portfolio
Development and implementation of solicitation strategies for new and increased gifts
Coordination and oversight of supporting initiatives in the areas of development services and donor relations

    Donor Relations:
Develop and implement coordinated matrix of communication and solicitation strategies involving email, direct mail, phone/mail, personal visitation and volunteer engagement

    Outreach:
Develop and implement community outreach plan to increase awareness, annual giving and to build the Team Korey Program
Promote programs, volunteer and donor opportunities
Events and third party fundraisers
Special Events
Coordinate Team Korey program throughout the Pacific Northwest; provide fundraising support and event management
Identify, implement and market athletic events opportunities
Athlete, participant recruitment
Assist with sponsorship identification and solicitation
Operational Management:
In partnership with Development staff team, this position will support an annual Fundraising Goal: 2.3M
Foster growth of best practices in gift processing, data management and donor relations ensuring clean data, ease of access to data and reporting and timely donor stewardship
In coordination with Director of Development ensure Camp Korey is a leader among peers regarding total dollars, percentage participation, consistency of giving and average gift
Database – Raiser’s Edge

Required Criteria:
Bachelor’s Degree, three years of experience in non-profit fundraising or equivalent educational experience
Demonstrated analytical and fund raising skills with the ability to recognize opportunities, identify critical, high pay-off activities and prioritize them to attain goals
Excellent motivator with proven success through communication, modeling appropriate behavior, optimism and high achievement
Thorough understanding of database management, gift processing and donor relations
