Development Associate – Reproductive Health Access Project – New York, NY

This is a unique opportunity to direct your passion for reproductive health, be a critical member of a dynamic team, and make a significant contribution to an exciting, growing organization. Working closely with the Executive Director and the board’s Fundraising Committee, the Development Associate will assist with all aspects of the organization’s fundraising, including its grants program, annual appeal solicitation and major gifts program and cultivation events.

Summary of Responsibilities:
DEVELOPMENT AND FUNDRAISING

Process donor contributions, including timely acknowledgment letters.
Coordinates donor outreach, such as mailings and emails.
Research and produce reports on foundations, donors and prospects.
Coordinate and plan special events, including our 10 year anniversary event in the fall of 2015.
Assist in the preparation of grant applications, reports and letters of inquiry.
Maintain online fundraising initiatives.
Serves as the staff liaison to the board Fundraising Committee.

DATABASE & TECHNOLOGY

Updates electronic donor database.
Produces fundraising reports on donors and campaigns.
Organizes and carries out online fundraising initiatives, including online donation pages.

PROGRAM & COMMUNICATIONS

Supports and facilitates the programmatic work of staff.
Assists in creating appropriate materials, reports and presentations for the board.
Attends appropriate meetings and events.
Contributes to the organization’s communication efforts by drafting content for the blog and newsletter.
Designs and produces letters, emails, and reports related to fundraising and development activities.
Ensures that the organization’s fundraising/development efforts remain mission-driven and uphold organizational values.

OTHER

Serve as an ambassador for the Reproductive Health Access Project.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Commitment to the organization’s mission and demonstrated commitment to sexual and reproductive justice.
Able to work comfortably both independently and as part of a team.
Excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to work in a small, open office.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational abilities; especially ability to prioritize and attention to detail.
Creative, “out of the box” thinker.
High levels of initiative, dependability, flexibility and humor.
Computer literate — thorough understanding of the use of word processing, accounting, database, spreadsheet applications.
Background or willingness to learn basic HTML editing and graphic design skills.
Experience with constituent database software; Salsa Labs preferred.
At least two years of relevant work experience; bachelor’s degree a plus.
