Operations Manager Job Description

Sankofa Community Development Corporation performs innovative community-based programs to spur health-centered development with preventive health education for children and their families. Our work supports the revitalization of the Lower Ninth Ward area of New Orleans through resources to improve food security and community health.

Operations at Sankofa Community Development Corporation

Our Operations Manager oversees the core functions of the organization to ensure that day-to day operations are completed with efficiency. Our Operations Manager supports the Sankofa mission and vision to ensure that programs and administration departments perform efficiently with sound leadership of Sankofa staff.

Responsibilities

The Operations Manager is a leader within the Sankofa team to ensure the organization functions with a high level of organizational management and professionalism. The Operations Manager will work with the Sankofa team to ensure programmatic and administrative tasks are completed with sound project managment and efficiency in a professional manner. Our Operations Manager must work well in an exciting community-based environment with a diverse team, using critical administrative skills, creatively building systems, and leading projects to ensure deadlines and growth are met.

The Operations Manager will lead the Sankofa team with collaboration and supervision in the areas of:

Administrative and Data Systems
Systems, Logistics & Project Management
Facilities & Equipment
Human Resources
Communication
Community Engagement
Strategic Input & Organizational Development
Risk Management

Requirements and Qualifications

Qualified candidates must have a minimum of 4-year degree with experience in labor management, business, or human resources from a recognized institution. We are seeking candidates excited about contributing positively to community development work, working in a fast-paced environment, and leading a dynamic team with integrity. Our Operations Manager will demonstrate:

Excellent interpersonal skills, leadership ability, and collaborative management style.
Commitment to social justice and the Sankofa mission.
Budget development and oversight experience.
Interest in community health, including preventive health measures, health disparities, environmental health, and food security.
Strong presence with community engagment and alliance development.
Understanding of cultural competency, anti-racism, and diversity.
