Braeside Camp is looking for an overnight EMT to direct the medical center. Ideal candidate has to be camper focused with positive attitude. You will be attending to the basic medical needs of campers such as morning and evening meds, emergency response and basic camp healthcare. New EMT candidates are also encouraged to apply!

This is a short term committment and the compensation is 3750 for the entire duration. Camp operates per 11 day sessions and the training starts on 24th of June. The last day of camp is on 26th of August.

There is nothing like the culture, camaraderie and adventure that come with working at an overnight camp. We have a very special place here both for the children we serve and the special staff that dedicate their summer to provide the care and supervision of our campers. Our scenic camp overlooks a fresh water creek that wraps around 17 beautiful wooded acres with a large swimming pool, sports court and playground. We have an average of 65 overnight campers and 25 day campers for each of our 4 sessions.

General Responsibilities To be part of the health management team for camp; supervise health and cleanliness standards; work with camp director and staff; and help provide adequate physical health conditions for all.

Specific Responsibilities 1. Ensure each staff member and camper has on file a health history, examination form, and food allergy action plan, as required. 2.Comply with Braeside guidelines for screening for arriving campers and staff. 3. Conduct inventory of supplies and place orders when necessary. 4. Establish and follow appropriate medical routines including record keeping in the daily medical log book, managing and safeguarding medications, and disposal of medical waste. 5. Directing and coverage of Health Center. 6. Post hours for health call for morning, evening and afternoon meds. 7. Coordinate med calls 8. Maintain complete medical treatment record in camp’s camper database as required. 9. Check and issue first-aid kits. 10. Lead specific areas of staff training pertaining to camp health. 11. Monitor health of all staff. 12. Complete and submit accident/incident reports that can be used for risk-management assessment. 13. Monitor/evaluate camp procedures, facilities, and conditions and suggest modifications that would create more healthful conditions in camp. Some duties may be reassigned and other duties may be assigned as required.

Adding to our diversity and creativity we maintain a small international component, this year we will host people from Sri Lanka, England and Asia. This important facet of camp helps to promote cultural exchange and emphasizes to our kids the importance of learning and sharing ideas with diverse people.

We are a small family atmosphere style camp that fosters a very positive community of friends and coworkers. Our small size also allows for quality relationship development with each of the campers that come through our gates. There are weekend breaks that also serve to break up our 4 overnight sessions in which local excursions to some of our nearby scenic attractions can take place.
