Role Description:

We are looking for a passionate, professional, entrepreneurial individual interested in working on the intersection of policy, constituent/donor engagement and social media in a start-up environment. S/he will work closely on all assets of digital campaigning, including editorial calendars, content creation, copywriting, social media strategy and implementation and constituent/donor acquisition and retention. This position will also prepare timely, accurate and professional policy research to augment content. This is a unique opportunity to have a direct impact on establishing War Child’s presence across the US.

Essential duties include, but are not limited to:

Work alongside Managing Director to create and implement social media strategy across all campaigns, events, communications and platforms.
Manage daily updating and responses on all social media platforms
Coordinate and create content – visual and copy – for e-newsletter & other digital communications
Liaise with content team to syndicate content across social media
Maintain awareness of current news with respect to WCUSA priorities and craft responses
Draft materials and briefs around core program developments
Research related to current and emerging issues to help our team craft content, reports, briefing papers, corporate profiles, and articles for the general public
Assist in tracking and reporting numbers and performance on all social media platforms
Monitor and assist in answering customer service/information emails
Assist with administrative, scheduling, and logistical support around organization activities

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with meticulous attention to detail
Excellent, wide-ranging knowledge of social media channels and apps; online research experience
Professional demeanor, able to interact successfully with a wide range of individuals
Ability and desire to work independently; proactively identify and take charge of tasks
Strong organizational, time management and multitasking skills with follow-through
Highly proficient in MS Office, Google Drive; Experience with graphics programs a plus

Qualifications:

Undergraduate Degree in international relations, political science, and/or a related field; Masters Degree (or currently working towards) preferred.
Demonstrated interest in and commitment to War Child’s work
Entrepreneurial, can-do spirit with a sense of humor
Strong research skills and digital skills
Knowledge of core policy areas a plus

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, need is immediate
3 days per week; $600 stipend for 3 month commitment
