The Global Knowledge Initiative (GKI) — www.globalknowledgeinitiative.org — is a Washington, DC-based non-profit organization with a mission to build and support global knowledge networks to solve development challenges. We seek a short-term Research Analyst to support an ongoing program with a leading international foundation. Our ideal candidate is a qualified analyst/researcher who is keen to form part of a high level GKI team piloting novel tools and frameworks designed to change how donor agencies, foundations, and implementing organizations create funding and operational strategies to address pressing social problems.
As a member of this team you will provide direct support to Senior Program Officers and our research partners as we apply our tools and frameworks on two problem spaces: developing country emergency medicine and urban inequality. You will gain exposure to cutting edge research in both topic areas, help modify tools that seek to improve the philanthropic decision-making process, and participate in a unique pilot process. We look forward to having you join our team of committed professionals who are passionate about challenging the status quo in international development in this exciting piece of work.
Named “one of the world’s top 100 social innovators for the next century” by The Rockefeller Foundation, GKI tackles challenges pertinent to science, technology, and innovation that affect the lives of poor and vulnerable people. We are especially focused on challenges that relate to agriculture, water, climate change, urban development, information and communication technology, energy, and health.
With operations in Africa, Southeast Asia, and the US, we help a broad range of stakeholders — researchers, entrepreneurs, communities — locate resources critical for problem solving; enable effective collaboration by building skills and designing shared strategies for change; and connect resources and partners into durable networks; all to solve pressing global challenges.
